Sherry Cask Whisky
Sherry cask whisky is matured wholly or partly in oak casks that have previously held sherry, giving the spirit additional richness, colour and complexity. These casks are most commonly associated with Spanish fortified wines such as Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez, although other sherry styles can also be used. The influence of the cask depends on factors including the type of sherry, the oak itself, the length of maturation and whether the whisky is fully matured or only finished in the cask.
