San Juan y Martinez is a small town in Vuelta Abajo (the main source of Habanos) and the inspiration behind the name of this cigar. All of the Seco and Ligero leaves used in the blend are taken from the surrounding plantations. The flavour of Hoyo de Monterrey’s blend makes it an attractive choice for those who seek a delicate yet aromatic Havana that is lighter to the taste but with great elegance and complexity.

Hoyo de Monterrey is one of the historic Cuban cigar names, with origins linked to José Gener and the Hoyo de Monterrey plantation in San Juan y Martínez, in the heart of Cuba’s Vuelta Abajo tobacco region. The plantation name was already established by 1860, and the cigar marque became closely tied to the quality of tobacco grown in this part of Pinar del Río.
