The whiskey is now centred on Nearest Green Distillery in Shelbyville, Tennessee, where the company built its own distillery campus after first releasing sourced Tennessee whiskey. That move gave Uncle Nearest its own production base in Tennessee rather than relying only on sourced stock and blending.
A major part of Uncle Nearest is the involvement of Green’s descendants, especially master blender Victoria Eady Butler, his fifth-generation descendant. Butler has played a central role in the brand’s whiskey, and that family connection is one of the details that sets Uncle Nearest apart from most newer American whiskey brands.
