About Stagg Jr
Stagg, originally released as Stagg Jr. in 2013, is a barrel-proof Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. It was created as a younger counterpart to the highly limited George T. Stagg bourbon from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, delivering a similarly powerful style through several small-batch releases each year. The “Jr.” name was removed from Batch 18 onwards, although earlier bottles remain widely known and collected as Stagg Jr.
Matured in new charred American white oak barrels, Stagg is bottled uncut and unfiltered, with no water added before bottling. The strength varies between batches, preserving the individual character of the selected barrels. Its full-bodied profile typically combines dark chocolate, brown sugar, caramel and ripe cherry with clove, oak, rye spice and lingering smoke, making Stagg one of Buffalo Trace’s most sought-after high-strength American bourbons.
