The brand is best known for Santa Teresa 1796, created in 1996 to commemorate the hacienda’s bicentenary. Light, heavy and pot-still rums are matured separately in ex-bourbon barrels before undergoing further maturation through an artisanal Solera system, producing a rich yet notably dry and balanced character. Beyond its rum-making heritage, Santa Teresa also supports Project Alcatraz, a social initiative that provides rehabilitation, education and employment opportunities for former gang members within the local community.
