The brand became closely associated with modern luxury vodka, helped by Diageo’s 2007 marketing partnership with Sean Combs, which played a major role in its growth in the United States. That business relationship ended in 2024, with Diageo and Combs confirming there was no ongoing connection between them relating to Cîroc or DeLeón Tequila.
In 2025, Diageo entered a joint venture with Main Street Advisors, exchanging majority ownership of Cîroc’s brand rights in North America for an interest in Lobos 1707 Tequila. Outside North America, Cîroc remains part of Diageo’s portfolio.
