Launched in 2005, Bernheim Original is described by Heaven Hill as the first new style of American whiskey introduced since Prohibition. Unlike bourbon, which must be led by corn, Bernheim uses wheat as the dominant grain, creating a softer and rounder profile. It is aged for seven years in traditional open rickhouses and bottled at 90 proof, or 45% ABV, with a style built around mellow grain sweetness, gentle oak, vanilla and light spice.
