About Ancho Reyes
Ancho Reyes is a Mexican chilli liqueur from Puebla, inspired by a family recipe dating back to 1927. The original expression is made with ancho chillies, the dried form of ripe poblano peppers, grown in Puebla’s volcanic soils and macerated to create a balance of heat, sweetness, smoke and spice. The modern brand was introduced in 2013 and is part of Casa Lumbre, with Campari Group acquiring a controlling interest in 2019.
The range centres on Ancho Reyes Original, with its warm dried chilli character, and Ancho Reyes Verde, launched in 2016 and made with early-harvested green poblano chillies for a fresher, brighter style. Both are widely used in cocktails, particularly Margaritas, Palomas and other tequila or mezcal serves where gentle spice and Mexican chilli character add depth without overwhelming the drink.
