Yellowstone was introduced in 1872 by pioneer distiller Joseph Bernard Dant and named for Yellowstone National Park, which was established that same year as America’s first national park. It became a long-running Kentucky bourbon name, remained on sale through Prohibition as medicinal whiskey, and by the 1960s had become the top-selling bourbon in Kentucky.
