Bulleit is best known for its high-rye Kentucky straight bourbon, giving the whiskey a drier, spicier profile than many softer, sweeter bourbons. The range expanded in 2011 with Bulleit Rye, made with a 95% rye mash bill, and has since grown to include Bulleit 10 Year Old, barrel strength releases and limited expressions.
A major step came in 2017 with the opening of Bulleit Distilling Co. in Shelbyville, Kentucky, followed by a visitor centre in 2019. The site marked a shift from brand-led bourbon to a larger production home for Bulleit, with recent releases including its own seven-year-old Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon distilled and aged at Shelbyville.
