Produced at the Yuan Shan Distillery in Yilan County just one hour from Taipei and have only been making whisky since 2005. Master Distiller Ian Chang and world renowned whisky consultant Dr Jim Swan, have in just over 10 years have put this distillery on the map from being an obscure new world distiller to a world beater (2015 world whisky of the year in the Whisky magazine was the Solist Vinho Barrique edition) Like other hot and humid countries like India & Australia the malt ages and matures much quicker and we are unlikely to see much from Taiwan bottled at 10 years or above but when you have up to 15% loss per year to the angels share you can understand why they bottle it young. The range boasts around 10 different expressions from the 40% abv classic malt to single cask and cask strength editions using ex-port, sherry, bourbon and wine casks to finish the rich and full bodied house style of malt.
