This is the first ever bottling of Tamdhu single malt Scotch whisky from That Boutique-y Whisky Company.
Aged for 28 years in Ex-Sherry casks and the label is a reference to the fact that Tamdhu is the only distillery that continues to use a saladin box to malt its barley, featuring a shadow-boxing Prince Saladin sporting a mighty fine beard.
Batch 1 is a release of 270 bottles.
Our Tasting Notes:
Nose: Golden sultanas, apricot glaze, pineapple upside down cake, lemon icing, sugar puff cereal with almond milk, vanilla wafers, custard powder, fresh barley fields and ripe honeydew melon.
Palate; Almond/frangipane cake like mix delivery with baking spices, pineapple chunk sweets, more golden sultana and syrup sponge pudding and custard. All butter croissants with apricot jam, some late spice/fizzy sherbet dip like notes.
Finish: Apricot danish pastries, almond nougart, dried/candied tropical fruit, grilled white grapefruit with icing sugar and some sherbet dip/custard powder.
A very clean and well balanced Speyside with the oak so well integrated here, a summery walk past a cake shop of a malt.
