"Springbank-at 18 or 21 years-is, however, quite simply lip-smackingly good."
An Ex-Sherry, Ex-Bourbon and Ex-Rum cask aged Springbank limited to 3800 bottles.
Nose: Peppery strawberries, stewed plums, salted caramel, banana toffee, rum and raisin fudge, hints of a dunnage warehouse by the sea, tarry with polished oak, earthy coconut, new leather, brine and mocha completing this deep and well nuanced nose.
Palate: Sweet cured meats, stewed berries, damson jam, peppery strawberry, a leathery and oily body, aromatic tobacco, spicy coconut, rum soaked caramelised banana, salted caramel, sugared almonds, elegant and aromatic wood smoke.
Finish: More cured meats and savoury notes balanced by peppery red berries, aniseed and leather. Coal smoke, touches of salty-oily-maritime influence along with polished oak, rum and raisin, banana toffee and an earthy dry finish.
A most complete Springbank, if you have always wondered what all the fuss is about with this distillery then this is a faultless example of why so many adore this cult distillery.
