Invergordon
Owned by Whyte & Mackay, Invergordon was founded in 1959 and operational by 1961. Unusually located in the north Highlands (historically grain distilleries were located in central Scotland for a larger market, transport access and cereal choice) near Glenmorangie and Dalmore, though the combination of easily accessible cereal crops and its port set it as an ideal site for a grain distillery. The site also housed the Ben Wyvis malt distillery between 1965 and 1977. The capacity of the distillery is truly staggering, with 40 million litres of spirit produced each year.
