Aultmore

Built in 1896 by Alexander Edward near Keith, and then rebuilt in 1971 the Aultmore distillery now lies by the river Isla. The rebuild doubled the capacity of the distillery and made it a lot more functional.

Aultmore in Gaelic means “the big burn” and the distillery’s emblem is a dipper which is an aquatic songbird which lives in the Forgie Burn behind the distillery. The majority of the whisky made here is used in Dewar’s blends. The distillery does have a visitor centre which is available by appointment.
