Kinclaith (silent)
(Kin-KLATHE)
1957 saw the last malt whisky distillery to be constructed in the Glasgow area, although it wasn't a traditional distillery building with a pagoda roof surrounded by quaint dunnage warehouses. The distillery was constructed inside the Strathclyde grain whisky distillery and only operated until 1975. That's one of the reasons that the Kinclaith single malt whisky is extremely difficult to find these days as it only operated for as little as 18 years. The other main reason for the obscurity of the Kinclaith single malt whisky was the fact that it was used mainly in blended whiskies by the owners. They never bothered to release an official bottling of Kinclaith as a single malt whisky. Even independent bottlers seem to have a hard time securing casks.
