Glenlochy (silent)

(Glen- Lochie)

One of eight distilleries to close during the year 1983 and originally established near Inverness in 1897. Meaning Glen of the dark Goddess (one of the more romantic translations) and now the only remains are the listed kiln and malt barn buildings which were converted into flats. House style here was medium bodied with notes of vanilla, coconut, malty fruit and hints of peat smoke. Bottled twice as part of the rare malt range by Diageo otherwise independent bottles by Gordon & Macphail and Signatory offer the best bets for still getting hold of Glenlochy.
