Existing since 1797, Glen Garioch is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. Unfortunately the distillery has had several closures in the past, and most recently in the mid 1990s. Thankfully the distillery was reopened in 1997 by new owners. The malt used is heavily peated which is very unusual for a Speyside malt.
Glen Garioch produce several different single malts including an 18 year old cask strength bottling. Their whisky has won several awards and the distillery does have a visitor centre.
