Italian whisky made with malted barley, malted rye and malted wheat!
ALBA (which is Italian for 'dawn' and also Scottish Gaelic for 'Scotland') is aged for three years in Sicilian Marsala casks before a finishing period in casks that previously held peated whisky from Islay.
Nose: Grappa and black grape skins, gristy grain and subtle smoke, toasted rye seeds, menthol, sugared almonds, gooseberry, singed juniper berries.
Palate: Spicy rye, peppery barley, anise, singed straw, green fruit, smoked apple and pear, clove, earthy menthol notes. Quite oily and full bodied mouthfeel.
Finish: peppery pear drops, smoked barley, red wine tannins, grape must, spicy clove, menthol, rye seeds toasted over peat smoke.
A youthfull vermouth or aperitif style offering from Italy's only whisky distillery that is housed in a stunning piece of modern architecture in the northern Tyrol region.
