"Who needs power when you have all of this well mannered yet complex elegance, with its fine balance of sweet fruit, honeyed citrus, smoke, warmth and oak?
Whisky Magazine Recommended 9/10
Nose: Meanwhile back in the hayloft. Very reminiscent of the farmyard, bags of barley, goat's cheese and a grass and straw laden fire. Then some juicy fruits emerge, pineapple and orange.
Palate: Those fruits bring sweetness intially, chocolate orange and pineapple with golden syrup. Then that grass fire starts to build, turning more to smoked goat's cheese.
Finish: Takes its time with the smoke lingering and fading into sweetness and fruit.
A big characterful whisky perfect for winter.
The equal oldest Port Ellen ever released and it's an elegant classic, hitting all the notes you could want in style.
