Product Description
Featured in the 1001 whiskies you must try before you die book
A fantastic full cask strength Japanese 20 year old that is easily up there with some of the very best Scotch single malts with the trademark Yoichi smoke more in the background here.
Nose: Rich aromatic wood incense, dark fruitcake, black bean/soy sauce, leathery, old nutty sherry, blood orange, dark chocolate, coffee liqueur.
Palate: Oily wood resin, aromatic spices from a buddhist temple, sherry soaked dried fruit, ripe figs in dark honey, spicy nuts, dark marmalade, chocolate, star anise, subtle smoke (smoked & cured meat?)
Finish: Chewy and mouthfilling fig and date with smoke from burnt toast, honey glazed meat (the charred bits!) sweet mustard like heat and leathery/savoury nuts soaked in dark sherry.
Wow.. plenty to chew on here and truly epic stuff and i highly suggest this could be a contender for one of my whiskies of the year (CMM 2014)
