Miltonduff distillery in Speyside is to Ballantine's what Blair Athol is to Bell's or Glenturret is to Famous Grouse, the base of a much more famous blended scotch.
Great to see this lesser known single malt which has very few official releases bottled at a younger age. to show off its fresh, floral new make character that develops into a charming and light single malt,
Distilled on 25th July 2008 and aged for 9 years in a first fill Ex-Bourbon barrel.
Nose: Waxy lemon, floral and herbal honey, toasted barley/oats, gristy and leafy notes with freshly baked choux pastry and milky rice pudding and soft vanillin oak and almond.
Palate: Almond nougat, marzipan, some vanilla tinged spiced oak, preserved lemons and poached pears in aromatic syrup.
Finish: Firm and dry with waxy lemon, vanilla, almond and some late peppery oak and green apple slices.
Like walking past a french patisserie shop in the heart of Speyside.
