Product Description
Often bottled officially under the Glen Deveron name by it's owners Bacardi, Macduff often flies (pardon the pun) under the radar. Slightly coastal in character with a clean and gently nutty, salted caramel note, this is a Highland Whisky worth snapping up if you are looking for something slightly of the beaten track.
This is the 2nd batch of Single cask whiskies from the Alistair Walker Whisky Company, cask strength and natural colour with a focus on some high quality but lesser known distilleries.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose Huge nose. Burnt toffee, cake mix and hints of marzipan.
Taste Bright, vibrant and jammed with flavour. Sweet - butterscotch candy, honey-comb, over-priced cinema pop-corn and vanilla pods, with clove and peppery overtones.
Finish Big and long - syrupy and chewy.
Really full-flavoured dram for a lesser known distillery. Interestingly, the out-turn was much lower than expected, meaning that the head space (air in cask) was above average, hence enhanced oxidisation of this whisky leading to a particularly smooth dram. This was also a late addition to batch 2, replacing a more famous distillery cask that just wasn't up to scratch (yet! - that cask has since been re-racked). Flavour over reputation.
