Product Description

The very first Peated whisky ever released from The Macallan which is a limited edition only available in selected outlets and from whisky sourced from just 100 sherry seasoned casks and non chill-filtered.

Dark amber-nutty brown in colour with a nose of smoked mincemeat, echelfechan tarts, earthy/mulchy forest floor notes, old leather, vintage book shops, mushroom pate on brown toast, roasted hazelnuts, touch of smoked meats or savoury meat stock here on the nose too.

The palate reveals dark honey, smoked nuts, savoury and leathery notes, rich sherry oak with smoke and earth overtones, cured meats, maltloaf, charred meat, esspresso coffee, ginger and sticky dates. On the long chewy and meaty finish there are notes of a platter of smoked meats and nuts with a glass of rich cream sherry on the side, smoked mocha and a lingering savoury/sweet combo.

Not for the Macallan purist for sure but if you like your peat smoke and sweet sherry in the same glass like i do this is a rare treat of a Macallan i would encourage you to seek out at all cost!

Official Tasting Notes:

Colour - Autumnal leaves.

Nose - Intense flavour from a timeless thread of peat smoke. A beautiful combination of dried fruits, nutmeg, ginger and beautifully polished oak plus dates, figs and raisins, heavy but sweet.

Palate - A dry smokiness reveals itself yielding to softer oak tones.

Finish - Long and fruity with an elegant wood smoke.
