Our Tasting Notes:
Nose: Stewed red plums, rhubarb and custard along with the classic earthy-funky peat smoke you expect with Longrow. Some red liquorice, leafy/brambly/floral nuances, smoked ham with cranberry sauce and hints of old sweaty leather.
Palate: A peppery and crunchy red berry delivery with the earthy peat smoke high in the mix, some blood orange/pink grapefruit zing and an oily-wine tannin body/mouthfeel and an almost game meat or that pate you get at Christmas like richness.
Finish: Game pie with crunchy cranberry or redcurrant jelly, earthy/mulchy/brambly peat smoke with an aromatic edge, some white pepper, blood orange and leather notes linger on a long and full bodied finish.
Superb combination of New world Pinot Noir wine casks bringing gamey tinged red fruit and classic earthy/funky Longrow distillery character. I loved it but i know many may find this is a little bit too funky!
