A fabulous 21 Year Old Ledaig bottled as part of Distell's 2020 Limited Release series. Distilled in 1998 and finished in sweet Marsala wine casks. This is a oily, smoky and sweet Ledaig, that is sure to be a winner, following in the footsteps of the popular Manzanilla finished release from 2019.
Nose - Bonfire ashes, hoisin sauce, roasted cashew nuts, cured meat but also a subtle lifted perfumed note.
Palate - Dry, oily and dirty. Resinous and textured. The smoke is present but doesn't dominate the whisky, while the Marsala influence, which is delicate, adds a depth and texture to the palate with a slight chocolate and salted nut undertone
Finish - A very long finish that builds to a gently sweet but dry, warm and lingering crescendo.
Super balance between distilate and cask, with neither dominating creating a superbly balanced Ledaig.
