Product Description

A limited edition heavily peated single malt from the Tobermory distillery under the Ledaig name (the original name of the distillery and what they now use for the more heavily peated style of releases)

Aged for 13 years and finished in Amontillado Sherry casks from the Montilla region of Spain.

Un-chill filtered and bottled at 59.2% ABV

Tasting notes:

Nose: Fruit and nut chocolate with an earthy, forest floor, fresh mushroom note. Tarry and rich peat smoke (think Chinese 5 spice shellfish on a bbq) caramel nuts, mincemeat, freshly varnished fishing boats and a dark meaty/savoury quality too.

Palate: A dense and thick delivery with maltloaf and brown bread toasted on a mulchy/leafy forest floor. Quite dirty and rustic (in an enjoyable way!) with that classic funky savoury, meaty, peppery Ledaig nuance. Some aromatic spices and honey roasted nuts as well along with a bold mouthfeel from this being cask strength.

Finish: Thick and peppery dark peat smoke gives way to honey roasted ham, dark treacle, fruit and nut chocolate, salted caramel and aromatic pulled pork crackling. A little water brings out some earthy cream of mushroom soup and hints of twiglets on a bonfire.

Another funky and highly enjoyable Ledaig offering, fast becoming a real contender to the likes of Ardbeg in terms of interesting and reliable releases that have loads of complexity and bold flavours.
