Product Description
The Glengyle Distillery was founded in 2004 by the Mitchell Family, who own the nearby Springbank Distillery. Their exceptional single malt whiskies are released under the Kilkerran brand. The 12 Year Old is oily, lightly peated, and has been matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks. Always a great value dram!
Nose: Starts off very light and delicate but then reveals itself slowly with notes of freshly cut flowers, salty coastal nuances, fresh pink grapefruit, lemon barley squash, mint turkish delight, green herbs, natural yoghurt and heather honey.
Palate: Fresh grapefruit with white pepper and sea salt, dried apricot, pear drops and some oily, menthol, vanilla, almond and fizzy citrus.
Finish: Home made lemonade, smoked sugared almonds, white pepper, salted white grapefruit, lime, mint/herbs, vanilla wafers and some oily coastal sea spray notes.
Delicate yet multi-layered and very well made and thought out 12 year old offering from a distillery i expect great things from in the coming years.
Winner of Gold Medal in The Scottish Field Whisky Challenge 2017 (under £40 Category)

Dave Broom says: ‘My second value for money whisky is Kilkerran 12-year-old. Not only a statement in terms of where the distillery is at and how its character is evolving, but a statement that value still exists within single malts.’
