Product Description
A curious peated version from the Glenturret distillery (Scotland's oldest working distillery) bottled by the Yorkshire based independent bottling company Claxton's.
Distilled 20th March 2009 and aged for 9 years in an American oak Hogshead.
Nose: More of a vermouth or mezcal like aroma, all herbal and minerally with oily smoke and green peppers on a peaty bbq. A curious hint of preserved cucumber in brine and hint of caraway seeds.
Palate: A real sooty bbq smoke delivery with green vegetal and green fruit notes, cucumber pickle and mojito like mix and some chilli pepper heat along with singed garden herbs and that vermouth like note again.
Finish: Pithy and vegetal, more green pepper like heat and a salty/brine like note along with mezcal, lime and sooty peat smoke.
More like a Funky Ledaig than a typical peated Highland malt and not your traditional Glenturret house style for sure!
One for the fans of heavily peated Islay.
