This is the first aged bottling of Glenallachie single malt Scotch whisky from That Boutique-y Whisky Company, and the label, as always, references something interesting about the distillery.
Glenallachie means 'Valley of the Rocky Place', and the label features a bunch of fish playing a rock concert in a valley! What type of fish are they? Could they be plaice?
Aged for 8 years and from a single cask that yielded just 231 bottles
Bottled at natural cask strength of 53.9% ABV
A lesser known Speyside distillery that is soon to be better known now Billy Walker of Benriach & Glendronach fame has taken over the distillery with exciting releases to come.
Our Tasting Notes:
Nose: Fresh barley fields, toasted oats, runny honey, dried apricot (flapjack mix) golden syrup sponge pudding, ripe melon, candied tropical fruit, barley water squash and quince jelly.
Palate:Candied fruit, toasted cereal, honey and oat flapjacks, a waxy body with notes of homemade lemonade and a presse like cordial nuance. Becomes grassier with some green fruit and peppery, ginger spice.
Finish: Lime barley water cordial, more waxy orchard fruits and sweet spice, candied tropical fruit, malty vanilla and sherbet dip.
It may be young but this has oodles of charm and has a real summer vibe of jugs of homemade lemonade in the garden about it.
