Nose: Quite funky to begin with with an almost Island/coastal like Ledaig quality settling down to reveal buttermilk pancakes, salty porridge, fennel, celery, spring onion, oatcake and even a sourkraut or smoked cheese rind element.
Palate: Salty ham, green fig, spring onion, oatmeal biscuits, cream cheese, celery sticks, apple chutney and fennel.
Finish: Salty and vegetal with some green fruit with a subtle smoke/earthy edge and that spring onion note again.
Not your everyday or run of the mill Speyside malt this, funky for sure and much fun to be had getting your tasting chops around this oily and more vegetal led lesser known distillery which is used in the ever popular Dewar's blends.
