A great example of how age on the label can be very misleading as only 0.4% of the liquid here is 3 years old (which is Clynelish aged in 1st fill American oak) the rest of this superb blend and two finger salute to the powers that be that decide the laws of Scottish whisky labeling is made up of very old Clynelish (90.3% and aged in refill hogsheads) and Talisker (9.3% aged in 1st fill sherry butts)
Only 3282 bottles produced, natural colour, non chill filtered and bottled at 49.2% ABV
Nose: Salted fudge, rich vanilla, smoked almond, ripe apricot & nectarine, aromatic spice, musky peach and meaty malt.
Palate: Rich, spicy and waxy with lots of orchard fruits, salted toffee, toasted vanilla and subtle smoke
Finish: Salted fudge, spicy vanilla, waxy orchard fruit, rich malted notes.
Greater than the sum of its age on the label, some people really did not get the concept of this and complained, ££££ for a 3 year old, well do we know the age of Johnnie Walker blue label? and people quite happily pay the same kind of money for that and this Compass Box release blows the mass produced blue label (compared to this small batch) out of the water.
