Featured in the 1001 whiskies you must try before you die book
This bottle is a blend of 100 single malt Scotch Whiskies. Also included is a small book by Jim Murray which gives details on all 100 distilleries featured in this mega blend and is easily one of the truly great blended malts ever released and the crown of the Chivas stable of blends.
Nose: Waxy orange, smokey oak, apricot glaze, tropical fruit, dolly mixtures/pick and mix sweets, some sherried notes, buttery malt loaf, juicy sultana, dried fruit, cherry, marzipan and dark honey.
Palate: Lovely juicy fruit with spicy salted cashew nuts, waxy citrus, tropical fruit soaked in sherry, hints of sweet smoke, old leather, rich buttery oak, oily texture with nutty nougart and glace cherry.
Finish: Salted caramel, juicy malt, rich honey, buttery oak, spicy tropical fruit (salsa) smoked waxy orange, aromatic oak, leathery, marmalade on brown toast.
A lingering long in the memory of a blend, sell your soul to try this awesome blend of a 100 malts some of which in the mix are from long closed and demolished distilleries. I tried this in a hotel room in Edinburgh whilst recovering from a cold and still managed to blown away by this.
