Product Description
The oldest release of the 2016 Diageo limited releases range went to this silent grain distillery that closed in 1993 that was situated just outside of Alloa in the Scottish Lowlands.
Distilled in 1975 and aged in refill American oak for 40 years and yielding just 1812 bottles.
Nose: Sweet toffee popcorn, blackcurrant leaf, rich caramel, pineapple, burnt vanilla custard, butterscotch, almond and baked apples.
`Palate: Salted caramel, spicy pineapple salsa, rum & raisin fudge, spongecake and portuguese custard tarts.
Finish: Waxy orange, vanillin oak, buttery shortbread, rich fudge, tropical fruit curd, anise and pineapple dusted with cinnamon sugar.
The oldest ever official bottle of Cambus, a distillery that was famous for using corn instead of wheat for its grain whisky and the closest Scotland comes to making a Bourbon, stunning single grain whisky and one of my top picks of the 2016 Diageo releases that offers something very different style wise.
