Product Description
Featured in the 1001 whiskies you must try before you die book
A more heavily peated version of the self styled un-islay esque Bunnahabhain distillery, Toiteach meaning smoky in scots gaelic is a darker, richer and and smokier version of this North Islay based distillery and very different to the 12 year old.
Nose: smoked gristy porridge, damp hay lofts, a whiff of old sooty bonfire embers, maritime notes, cullen skink soup, smoked toffeee, briney/oily notes, some grapefruit freshness here too.
Palate: smoked walnut whips, spicy oatmeal, peppery smoked toffee, chewy date like fruit, smoked butter, honey roasted cashews, smoked mocha.
Finish: Malty smoked dates, embers of a peat fire, toffee dipped in brine, peppery oatmeal, earthy chocolate.
More in common with the rest of Islay's malts than its own official bottles at 12 & 18 years old and well worth seeking out if you ever wanted more peat to your Bunna!
