This years (2010) and 9th release of the official distillery 30 year old bottling with Clynelish as well as Brora stated on the label and only 3,000 bottles worldwide.
Nose: Savoury meat stock, roasted meats, leathery, aromatic candle-wax, stem ginger, old tea chests, candied mixed peel, hints of coal fire smoke.
Palate: oily, waxy and peppery meat delivery settling into a waxy citrus, smoked barley, apple and pear led malt with notes of dried fruit, nut brittle, gingerbread, salty toffee and spicy cereal with herbal honey.
Finish: Aromatic wood smoke, ginger, oily nut shells, dried fruit and waxy mixed peel, smoke, leather and finishing dry but long, meaty and peppery.
Epic stuff and one of the closed distilleries that is sorely missed by all lovers of great whisky, so distinctive in style is this sadly missed coastal Highland malt.
