The third and final release of the devils cask trilogy, finished in PX sherry casks and bottled at a mighty 56.7% Lots going on here and a much darker offering of Bowmore with the big Pedro Ximenez sherry character, a real bonfire night/treacle toffee of a malt!
Nose: Garden bonfires of bracken with earthy mincemeat notes, kumquat, blood orange marmalade, dark treacle, smoked and roasted nuts, leather, sticky figs and dates, shitake mushrooms with hints of soy sauce, coal tar and smoked shellfish.
Palate: Smoked cured meats, dark treacle, toasted nuts (pecans & walnuts) blood orange, balsamic vinegar, beetroot crisps, earthy/forest floor notes with some savoury mushroom pate, those soy/umami like nuances again.
Finish: Root ginger, smoked meats, treacle, black jack sweets, soy sauce, mushroom, blood orange, kumquat, balsamic roasted pecan nuts, earthy ripe figs.
