A well aged Lowland single malt from the Claxton's range of single cask releases and great to see this triple distilled Auchentoshan aged in a Sherry Hogshead and at natural cask strength of 54.1% and at natural colour and non chill filtered.
Distilled 28/10/1991 and only 217 bottles released.
Nose: Rich fruitcake and maltloaf, brown butter, dark honey, baked figs, treacle & ginger flapjacks, some black fruits (of the forest), wet leather, pipe smoke aromatics, cinnamon, clove and coffee fondant.
Palate: Big and malty delivery, buttery/honey and treacle mix for flapjacks, drying mid palate into a more earthy, bark like brambly forest fruit/blackcurrant cordial body. Nutty sherry wood tannins and sweet, aromatic oak.
Finish: Brandysnaps, ginger, treacle, dark honey and ripe figs, cake spices, drying Sherry wood and toasted raisin.
A big and bold Auchentoshan, if you like the triple wood official bottling then you are going to love this.
