Ardbeg Wee Beastie has been matured for just 5 years, making it the untamed ‘enfant terrible’ of the whisky world. Whereas most single malts seek the smoothness and balance of older age, Ardbeg know that more time in cask tends to subdue the smokiness that so many whisky fans love. By boldly proclaiming the whisky’s relative youthfulness, Ardbeg invite consumer curiosity and promise a monstrously smoky experience.
Senses are heightened with each encounter. First comes an intense aroma of cracked black pepper, mingling with sappy pine resin and the sharp tang of smoke. Suddenly, the explosive mouthfeel bursts forth with chocolate, creosote and tar. Savory meats sink into the palate, before the long salty mouth coating finish slinks away.
On tasting, the whisky is not just incredibly smoky, but also surprisingly well balanced by the expert use of sherry cask maturation – meaning that consumers will want to share this delicious discovery with friends.
A monster of a dram. At just 5 years old, the legendary smokiness of Ardbeg is untamed by age, revealing the inner beast of this Islay icon.
