17 year old or perhaps even 30 year old Ardbeg unintentionally mixed with 12 Year old Glen Moray, it was an accident just waiting to happen wasn't it? Most of this got drunk so will be a future collectable for sure.
About 16,000 bottles of this 80% old Ardbeg 20% 12 year old Glen Moray were released in 2005.
Nose: Smoked pears in stock syrup, chocolate limes, fresh herbs singed in a bonfire, lemon curd, white pepper, some sourdough bread mix, salted almond and sooty liquorice.
Palate: Almond croissant with salted lime curd, tinned pears in syrup, barley water squash, subtle smoke, white pepper, sooty lemon, some vegetal and herbal notes lurking in the background.
Finish: Vanilla and lime sherbet dip, more smoked pear in syrup, doughy bread or cake/biscuit mix, lemon barley.
A soft and fresh mix of Islay and Speyside with the lighter peat of old Ardbeg at the core of this wonderful mistake.
