Built by the former Glendronach distillery manager John Duff and Glenlossie was built in 1876. It was built on a slope so the distillery with a 70 foot drop so gravity was used to its advantage as the water flowed down the hill and powered the water wheel. It didn’t have to use steam power! The distillery underwent a reconstruction in 1896 and a private railway siding was added.
Glenlossie uses water from various sources including the Bardon Burn, Gedloch and Foths Burns. Glenlossie does make its own single malt which is 10 years old, however the majority of whisky made is used in Haig and Dimple blends.
