Bowmore is a huge distillery which lies along of the shore of Loch Indaal. It is a beautiful building with classic whitewashed walls and black trimmed windows. Bowmore workers take pride in the fact that it is the oldest licensed distillery on Islay, and also it being one of the first to start selling and offering its whisky worldwide.
Bowmore is not the smokiest whisky from Islay and tastes different to other Islay whiskies such as Laphroaig and Ardbeg. Bowmore has one various prestigious awards including “Distiller of the Year” in 1995, in 2000 they won the International Spirits Challenge and even won the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2000 and 2001. At the Bowmore distillery there is also an awesome visitor centre.
