Deanston
(DEANS-ton)
The Deanston distillery was converted from the old cotton mill in 1965. It is located by the river Teith near Castle Doune in Perthshire. The distillery has kept some of its old and interesting buildings which include a vaulted weaving shed which is now used as a maturation warehouse.
Deanston whisky is produced using un-peated barely, however because the water has peaty traces it does leave a hint of smoke in the whisky. The distillery also has a visitor centre with tours available.
