Product Description

Another one of those lesser known Speyside malts that is mainly used for blending (Ballantines is the well known blend that this is destined for) but when given a great cask and here bottled as a single Sherry cask the results can be as impressive as anything the more well known Speyside brands can offer.

Nose: Snickers bars, tealoaf cake, dried apricot, mocha/praline, hints of new leather, mandarin, tinned peaches and waxy orange.

Palate: Lots of waxy orange, apricot, caramelised peaches, rich chocolate truffles, treacle tart, mocha, buttery oak, leather, nutty nougart and honey on brown toast.

Finish: Chocolate liqueurs, cointreau, golden treacle, mocha, nutty/caramel, fig jam, spiced peaches, long and austere.

Impressive complexity here for a mere 6 year old and suprisingly easy drinking for its 65.1% ABV (or am i just so used to cask strength whisky by now?) the quality of the Sherry cask (first fill?) makes this feel more mature and only 663 bottles available.
