Product Description

To describe this Gordon & Macphail bottle of 42 year old Macallan as a bargain might be hard to take for some, but when you consider the official release of Macallan 40 year old last year started out at £5000 and will soon increase in price to many times that, then you start to see what i mean by using the word bargain?

Nose: Deep and rich notes of mulled oloroso sherry with orange rind, sour cherry, liquorice, espresso coffee, some savoury notes of leather and bovril creep in along with dark treacle.

Palate: Dark manuka honey, treacle, charred anise, strong coffee, meat stock reduction, salami, sherry vinegar, malt loaf, sticky dates, ginger marmalade, blood orange and a complex savoury/sweet combination mouthfeel.

Finish: Like someone has gone over the top with the best Oloroso sherry in the trifle along with dark roast coffee beans, creamy ginger, dark chocolate, liquorice and some dry/savoury meat glaze, balsamic soaked nuts.

You can almost smell the splinters in the sherry wood here! a dark and meaty Macallan for those that like a more mature Sherry cask bomb without over the top abv but all the flavour. There is a real antique furniture shop feel to this.
