Product Description

The 2013 travel retail 1 litre release of the highly regarded Distillers Edition which is the Lagavulin 16 year old matured in specially selected Pedro Ximenez casks for just under a year. Nose: Smoked raisin, tarry fruitcake, black bean sauce, sea kelp/black seaweed, coal smoke, ashy black treacle, gunpowder tea, toasted rye bread, smoked sea salt. Palate: Very distinctive mix of sweet sooty smoke, chewy dark fruit, smoked pecans, dark treacle, sherry soaked christmas cake and salty charred seaweed. Finish: Smoked treacle tart, salty toffee, toasted pecans, sooty sweet sherry, dark aromatic spices, salty chilli flakes and black tea smoked cured meats. This is such a individual style of Islay malt and that combination of sweet and sticky PX sherry casks and tarry/smokey Lagavulin malt is a winner of a winter warming malt to enjoy outside at a bonfire or on a cold night indoors.
