Product Description

Only 3500 bottles released for the 2014 Feis Ile festival that takes place on Islay at the end of May each year and the limited special editions each distillery release are much saught after by collectors and lovers of islay malts alike as they always offer something a little bit different to the core range of releases. This offering from Lagavulin is from 100% Sherry casks and bottled at 19 years old at a mighty 54.7% abv. Nose: Smoked hard cheese, orange peel dipped in bonfire ash, peaty mincemeat, peppery red and black berries soaked in sherry, incence wood, smoked walnuts, marmite and star anise. Palate: Peppery, tarry oily peat followed by smoked bklackcurrant cordial, fruity liquorice, sooty mincemeat & smoky mocha. Finish: Smoked walnut whips, tarry and ashy dark wood peat, rich dark sherry notes, aromatic incence sticks, leathery, peppery mince pies, smoked cheese. This is like a supercharged version of the distillers edition with very well rounded and balanced sherry vs classic Lagavulin tarry peat and strangely very approachable despite its abv.
