Product Description

A beautifully balanced wine cask finished released from Gordon & Macphail from the Caol Ila distillery (the largest on Islay and often overlooked) 33 months in Sassicaia red wine casks from Tuscany in Italy ( A wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes and bottles often retail for well over £100 a bottle!)

Nose: Rasberry ripple ice cream cones on a fishing trawler off the Islay coast, wet leather, red berries galore with a sooty/white pepper ash edge, anise, smoked redcurrant jelly, earthy peat with a flowery/violet or rose petal tinge.

Palate: Dried raspberry and strawberry, white pepper, fruity liquorice, dry red wine wood tannins, crunchy cranberry and redcurrant jelly, smoked rose turkish delight, some sweet chilli sauce heat and rosemary herbal note.

Finish: Sooty, white pepper smoked red berries, spicy red wine oak, anise, earthy, herbal.. long and rewarding. One of the best red wine and peated malt combinations i have had the pleasure to try and a Caol Ila not to be ignored, especially at this price!
